MINISTRY OF YOUTH AFFAIRS HANDS OVER CAR WASH CENTRES TO THE YOUTH

It was a remarkable event on Friday 29th November,2019 when the government of Sierra Leone through the Ministry of Youth Affairs hands over 10 newly constructed ultra modern car wash centres.

This is part of the empowerment programmes the Ministry is engaged in for the youth of the country who have created livelihood in car washing.
In his words, the Deputy Minister of Youth Affairs stated clearly that this project is geared towards ensuring that the youth are catered for and to lessen the problem of employment and capacity building among the youth. ” Government cannot create jobs for all at the same time , but this is the start of what we have as plan for the youth of Sierra Leone and the Government of President Julius Maada Bio has placed the issue of youth empowerment as top of his priority. This is a demonstration of that commitment and we call on you all to grab this platform we have created. The Minister opined.

Presidential Adviser Raymond D’Souza George in his Key note address told the youth who are direct beneficiaries of the project to get on their feet and embrace the good work of government and told them that the constructed Car Wash is not a private property, but a property of Sierra Leone and thus warned the youth to take their jobs seriously as this is the very first time such development is landing in the hands of the youth of the country.

The Director of Livelihood Skills Victor L. K. Muana reiterated the need for all to move forward with the new development the government and the Ministry of Youth Affairs have created for them and told the audience that about 60 Car Wash Centres will be created across the country, but this initial 10 is a demonstration of Government’s commitment for Youth empowerment and a way of reducing the problems of the youth especially those in the Car washing services.

It was a wonderful engagement and several praises were heaped by the youth on the government for a job well done and they prayed for more tangible development like this to continue as a show of government commitment to capacitating the young minds.
